The band formed in 1992 after the demise of the Slusarenko brother's previous band, Death Midget. Birch had been playing guitar with Oblivion Seekers, and Moore had previously fronted Rawhead Rex. In June of that year, their debut album More Boy, Less Friend was released on Sub Pop Records. .
